About 50 Best Health Insurance
We help people around the world find the best health insurance for their needs. Our editorial team researches, evaluates, and ranks health insurers in every major market so you can make informed decisions.
How We Rank Health Insurers
Our rankings are powered by real editorial ratings from trusted sources in each country. We aggregate scores from publications like Stiftung Warentest, J.D. Power, Focus Money, AM Best, and many more. Each rating is normalized to a 0-100 scale and combined using a weighted average to produce a composite overall score.
Our Rating Sources
We draw on 50+ editorial sources across 30 countries. Each source is vetted for independence and credibility. Examples include:
- •Stiftung Warentest (Germany) — independent consumer testing with the Sehr Gut to Mangelhaft scale
- •J.D. Power (United States) — annual customer satisfaction surveys scored out of 1,000
- •Focus Money (Germany) — financial publication ranking insurers by value and service
- •AM Best (Global) — financial strength ratings ensuring insurers can meet their obligations
Each insurer's page shows the exact rating from each source, the year it was published, and a link to the original review — so you can always verify our data.
How Scores Are Computed
Each editorial rating is first normalized to a 0-100 scale. For “lower is better” systems (like German school grades), we invert the scale so that higher always means better. These normalized scores are then combined using a weighted average — where sources with wider scope or greater methodological rigor may carry more weight — to produce the final overall score displayed on each insurer's card and detail page.
Editorial Independence
Our editorial team operates independently from our business team. While we may earn commissions when you click through to an insurer, this never influences our rankings or reviews. Our editorial team has full autonomy in determining ratings and recommendations. All editorial ratings are sourced from independent third-party publications — we do not create our own scores.
